Filament Rendering

Filament is a real-time rendering engine that is now used in Cascadeur for visualizing scenes.

It is equipped with all the features you’d expect from a modern renderer, and provides all the means necessary for customizing the look of your scene.

New LiveLink

The LiveLink feature has been rebuilt from the ground up.
This new version provides far better integration with Unreal Engine and seamless real-time animation streaming.

This was made possible thanks to our team receiving an Epic MegaGrant.

Root Motion

A new generative tool that produces an animation based on the trajectory of the character.

It works by creating a rough draft of the motion (at minimum, you’ll need two keyframes: at the start and at the end) and clicking the Run Root Motion button on the Toolbar:

Collision Penetration Cleaning

A new tool that analyzes an animation and removes intersections.

Note

To use this feature with outdated scenes, you’ll need to re-generate the character rig. For new ones (i.e. created in this version of Cascadeur), it works out of the box.

AutoPosing

Improved AutoPosing for Quadrupeds.

Point Constraints now work in AutoPosing.

Fixed AutoPosing points pulling other rigs in multi-character scenes.

AutoPosing direction vectors now scale based on the length of the Additional Point’s vector.

User Interface

Moved some timeline items from Edit to Timeline menu.

Added tooltips to Scene Settings.

Removed the extra scrollbar in the Home window.

Added an option to import images to the Export menu.

Added Quadruped Spine Forward/Backward Switching Angles in Settings.

Other Updates

Point Constraints are taken into account in AutoPhysics and Ragdoll.

Ctrl + F now keys all tracks at once (not just expanded ones).

You can now add light sources to the scene.

Added a special variant of Spline IK for necks.

Added self-joint checks when creating twists or untwists in rigs.

Removed input-to-output connection check in Node Editor.

Added input connection validation for static data nodes.

Added Quick Rigging Tool templates for meshy.ai and Auto Rig Pro.

Added rig toggle option to account for constraints in relaxation.

Updated enum data descriptions: Switched from name-based to ID-based functions for reliability.

Removed texture size limitations.

Added new setting functions: InIntervalInclusive, FindFirstInt, FindFirstBool, At.

Changed the use namespace parameter to True in the default joint parts file.

Fixes

Fixed option button bug on macOS.

Fixed issues copying in Interval Edit Mode with moving pivot.

Improved messages for Hinge warnings.

Now, Inbetweening correctly takes into account surrounding interpolation.

Scenes with Constraints now import correctly into each other.

Switching to Filament fixed quad-mesh display issues on macOS.

Selector.ordered_ids now updates properly after object deletion.
