The Birth of Papillon Games
Ever since the arcade games of the 80s captured my imagination, I knew my passion lay in game development. My name is John Caicedo, and I come from Bogota. Over the years, I have faced numerous challenges, from lacking resources to the necessity of self-learning. Yet, each obstacle only strengthened my determination. In this journey, I discovered a tool that transformed my development process: Cascadeur.Papillon Games, inspired by the butterfly symbolizing transformation and hope, emerged from my extensive experiences and learning. The butterfly also honors my beloved daughter, Daniela, whose courage in her battle against leukemia inspires me every day. Thus, Astrocuco was born, a game reflecting her bravery and determination.
Astrocuco: A Metaphor of Survival
Astrocuco is more than a game; it's an emotional experience immersing players in the survival of an explorer on Mars. Players must gather resources, manage their oxygen and energy, and face solar storms and other challenges in a hostile environment. The gameplay mechanics, centered on solving puzzles and overcoming obstacles, are designed to reflect the daily struggle of those facing extreme adversities.On our exciting journey developing Astrocuco, our Mars adventure at Papillon Games, we found ourselves needing to create realistic and fluid animations. However, like many indie developers, our animation skills are limited. Fortunately, Cascadeur presents itself as a revolutionary solution that allows us to overcome these limitations and take our animations to the next level of professionalism.

This is a great relief for us as it saves us the tedious task of manually adjusting each movement and allows us to focus on the creativity and narrative of our game.One of Cascadeur's most impressive features is its ability to simulate realistic physics, called AutoPhysics. This feature allows character movements to respond to the laws of physics, creating animations that look and feel authentic. This is especially beneficial for our Astrocuco project, where the low-gravity conditions on Mars can be realistically simulated without additional effort.
