What are selection groups

You can assign hotkeys to select different objects in the scene. To do this, use the numbers from 1 to 9. In test scenes, some hotkeys have already been assigned. You can use them or assign your own hotkeys.

  1. Upper body with arms and head
  2. The upper body from the chest
  3. Left hand
  4. Right hand
  5. Left leg
  6. Right leg
  7. Head
  8. Center of Mass

Assigning a hotkey for a selection group

  • Open the Standard_model scene to complete the following exercise 
  • Press the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 to select different parts of the character’s body.
  • Select 4 point controllers of the character's pelvis with a frame.
  • Press the combination of Ctrl + 9 to assign a hotkey for the pelvis
  • Unselect point controllers and press 9 to select the pelvis again.

Control Picker

Using the Control Picker you can create special buttons for selecting certain groups of objects.


  • Open the Window tab
  • Select Control Picker. The tool window will appear.
* If you have the Pro version of the program, you can place this window as one of the tabs of the program workspace

Creating and editing buttons


  • ​Select objects in the viewport. For example, select the character's hand points.
  • Right-click in the Control Picker window and select the Add one button option.
  • Click the pencil icon in the upper right corner of the window to open the editing menu.
  • Select the created button. Change its name, color and size using the editing panel.
  • Select the button and drag it to a new position in the tool window. Click the pencil icon again to finish editing the button!
