POSE LIBRARY: Pose weight sliders as in Animation master.

Animation master is a forgotten software that actually had some brilliant features (some now adpoted 20y later by Pixar)

One is how their pose library works. In most software a pose library is just a set of stored rig keyframe poses. But animation master had it a bit different.

When you create a pose it becomes more like and object, that can be changed and altered later.
Also it has a positive and negative slider possibility where you can store two poses into one pose. Say Standing up / Sitting

So if your character on say keyframe 0 is standing in a fighting stance you can at say frame 50 pull the slider of the Stand/Sit pose and depending on if you pull it negative or positive blend to either fully stand or sit or somewhere between from you fighting stance pose. Super quick to get into the pose you want (especially now combined with the autopose engine)

This special pose keyframes can then in several ways

- Bake it. Then it becomes just a normal pose keyframe

- Bake pose - The pose gets decoupled from the library but you can still change how much it blends from the previous frame (this feature is avaiable for all normal keys also.Very handy to be able to go back and tweak how much each keyframe affects the previous key. Its very easy to reduce some impact on a pose key this way)

- Change the pose in the library - if you would edit the pose in the library all references to that pose would also be updated.

 

From what I know now , few if any of these features is present in modern software and I well this is the natural way to uses poses. As something dynamic, you could choose and set weight on (basically its a bit like weight in additative layers without the need for layers) and I think it would fit even better into the philospohy of Cascadeur)

(Also having the possibility to on a keyframe have multiple keys/poses with blending weight would be an awsome alternative to animation layers, often one just want to say raise an arm a bit more and test out the differences. To add a complete layer just for that bodypart actions is harder to maintain compared to just be able to on that keyframe be able to add another one that you can toggle on /off and also se blend weight to)
